Dance Beyond 2019 /2020

The art of touch and movement

5Rhythms® with Romana Tripolt,
Trager® Bodywork and movement meditation with Martin Steixner

Dec 27th, 2019 to Jan. 2nd, 2020

We are looking forward to our annual Intensive in Auroville and invite everyone who likes to move, explore and celebrate with a group of international and open minded people.

There will be a 5Rhythms® dance unit every morning and a unit with Trager® body work, Mentastics® and Soulrhythms movement meditation in the evening.

We investigate and develop one quality of the 5Rhythms, (weight & gravity, structure & texture, movement & letting go, space & connectedness, pause & breath) in dance and bodywork every day, and we expand our ability to be in presence from moment to moment, alone and together.

If you like to join us in "Dealing with Trauma in Bodywork and Therapy" as well there is a good slot in between the 2 Intensives to go to Tiruvanamalai, to explore Tamil Nadu or to hang out at the beach for a few days.

DANCE BEYOND - Description

A one week journey into body wisdom and body orientated spirituality with Trager® bodywork, 5Rhythms® and Soulrhythms Movement Meditation.

In the morning we will move and dance. Aurovillians are welcome and will join our dance tribe! In the evening sessions is time for movement meditation and individual work in single sessions to learn and practice key elements of Trager® bodywork.

The 5Rhythms® are states of being and a conscious movement practice. The rhythms are the maps for our explorations. We will dance on the path to dive deeper into our body wisdom - to embody our wisdom.

1st Day: In the Trager session we will work with weight, exploring the forces of gravity in our body.

2nd Day: In the morning dance we will focus on Flowing, the first rhythm, the focus is more inside, to our connection to earth and ground.

In the evening session we will work with structure, and the exploration of the different textures and layers of our body.

3rd Day: In the dance we focus on playing with space and structure, the quality of Staccato the second rhythm. We will add movement to the exploration in our evening session, practicing how to release and trust.

4th Day: Release and trust in relationships is the topic in our dance in unit in Chaos, the 3rd rhythm. Space is the quality we add in our bodywork, we practice how to create and give space and how to receive and give spaciousness in the treatment.

5th Day: We open up for Lyrical, the next rhythm, expand our dance into the element of air. The focus of the bodywork evening session is pausing: the point between one impulse and the other, between one action and the next one.

6th Day: Our dance will reach out to dimensions of aether and maybe become something like a body-prayer in the last rhythm, Stillness.

Auroville the universal township

Matrimandir the center of Auroville
Matrimandir the center of Auroville

Auroville is a universal township in the making for a population of up to 50,000 people from around the world.  Auroville is an ideal township devoted to an experiment in human unity.

The purpose of Auroville is to realise human unity – in diversity. Today Auroville is recognised as the first and only internationally endorsed ongoing experiment in human unity and transformation of consciousness, also concerned with - and practically researching into - sustainable living and the future cultural, environmental, social and spiritual needs of mankind.

The concept of Auroville was developed by The Mother and Sri Aurobindo from the 30´s on.

In the early 60´s it was put before the Govt. of India, who gave their backing and took it to the General Assembly of UNESCO. In 1966 UNESCO passed a unanimous resolution commending it as a project of importance to the future of humanity, thereby giving their full encouragement.

On 28th February 1968 some 5,000 people assembled near the banyan tree at the centre of the future township for aninauguration ceremony attended by representatives of 124 nations, including all the States of India. The representatives brought with them some soil from their homeland, to be mixed in a white marble- clad.

Auroville has a rural ambience. It consists of nearly 100 different settlements, spread out over 25 km2 (of which a little over 10 km2 so far is owned by the community). Distances between the outlying settlements can be several kilometres. Within the Auroville area there are several villages, and still a lot of village-owned land.

Auroville is located in south India, 150 kms south of Chennai (Madras) and about 10 kms north of Pondicherry town. The journey from Chennai is about three hours by road. Buses from Chennai are frequent.

The climate in Auroville is tropical. From December to March the day-time temperature range is 24 - 30°C (74 - 85ºF). Nights are about 5°C cooler.
